Together with experts from science, art and culture, the dramaturgy and theater mediation of the Vienna State Opera, we develop exciting discussions on the challenges and perspectives of opera in today's world. This will lead to practical discussions such as improvisations, scene development and creative writing. Join us and actively shape the discourse!

Which themes from the operatic canon are still of interest to us today - and how do directors find their approaches to these works? What does "current" mean, and how do you "update" a work so that you do it justice?

We will take a closer look at an opera from the repertoire. We will discuss the libretto and possible adaptations, watch excerpts from new productions and talk to the director and librettist Sarah Scherer about the process of developing a production.
