The stage orchestra is one of the two large orchestral collectives at the Vienna State Opera and performs the so-called "stage music" in countless operatic works: the musicians are used when music is not needed in the pit, but on stage as part of the action.
In addition, it is also the orchestra in NEST and it is impossible to imagine this new house without it as the musical backbone. Reason enough to invite the members from the pit onto the stage: In various constellations, the musicians will create varied and exciting concert programs.
Programme
For the first installment of the NESTKLANG series, four percussionists of the Vienna State Opera's stage orchestra present the tonal and rhythmic diversity of their instruments.
Together with tuba player Albert Wieder, the musicians will cover a stylistic range from contemporary concert literature to arrangements and well-known jazz standards. They will perform works by Thierry De Mey, Franz Lehár, Anders Koppel, Gene Koshinski, Leonhard Waltersdorfer and Ivan Trevino.
You can expect a varied and unusual concert experience with guaranteed catchy tunes as the impulsive kick-off to a new chamber music series at NEST.
