The International Helmut Deutsch Lied Competition is Vienna's only regular singing competition dedicated entirely to the Austrian Lied. In addition to well-known names such as Franz Schubert, Hugo Wolf and Gustav Mahler, it also puts the spotlight on lesser-known but important composers such as Johanna Müller-Hermann. In September 2025, the competition will take place for the fifth time in collaboration with the mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. The prizewinners' concert at NEST will mark the festive conclusion of the competition. The concert is not only an outstanding moment for the young talents, but also for the audience, who can experience an impressive interpretation of the great art of song - masterfully accompanied by Helmut Deutsch.
