Young music theater and dance ensembles in the spotlight!
For one week, the stages at NEST and DSCHUNGEL WIEN belong to young music theater and dance ensembles from all over Austria. School theater groups, extracurricular theater clubs and young collectives present their own play developments and performances.
All creative minds between the ages of 14 and 24 from all over Austria are invited to take part in the festival with their own production. School theater groups, theater clubs and young collectives can bring their ideas to life and bring their music and dance theater productions to the stages of NEST and DSCHUNGEL WIEN.
Interested parties can apply from September 2025 with their self-developed piece or an initial concept for a performance. A jury will select seven productions that will be performed in front of an audience on the NEST or DSCHUNGEL stage as part of the festival.
The selected groups from all over Austria will spend a week together at the festival in Vienna in June 2026. Accompanied by a supporting program for all participating teenagers and young adults, the festival becomes a place to try out new things, get to know each other creatively, discuss social issues artistically and create shared theatrical experiences. Workshops and discussions with artists are intended to inspire, encourage further development and promote mutual exchange. There will also be plenty of parties and open stages to celebrate and put your own creativity in the spotlight.
As a member of the Opernlabor ensemble, individuals (aged 14-24) can also perform on stage during the festival and take part in the supporting program.

- Theater and performance clubs from theaters, opera houses, dance schools and other cultural institutions
- Independent young performance or art collectives

- Focus of the age group: approx. between 14 and max. 24 years

- Present initial ideas: Artistic question/project & dramaturgical approaches, probable cast, team
- Selection: The festival jury will view and select 7 productions. Notifications are expected by February 2026.

- Participate in free workshops in the fields of music, dance or theater. E.g. speech training & stage presence, choreography and bodywork, improv & creative writing

Unfortunately, travel and accommodation costs in Vienna cannot be covered. If you are unable to cover these costs yourself, you can apply for a grant at wildundschoen@wiener-staatsoper.at. Further information on request.
