Baritone ALEXANDRE BEUCHAT was born in Courtételle (Canton of Jura) and awarded a Master of Arts in Performance by Lucerne University, where he had studied music under Barbara Locher. Preparatory violin studies, training with Wicus Slabbert and Edith Lienbacher, as well as masterclasses with Margreet Honig, Klaus Mertens and Ton Koopman completed his musical training and education. As a soloist, he gained concert experience through numerous spiritual music projects (performing works by Bach, Haydn, Schütz, Monteverdi, Mozart and others), as well as various recitals of lieder. In the 2015/16 season, the singer was part of the ensemble of Lucerne Theatre, where he sang the parts of Mr Gedge in Albert Herring and of Antonio in Il viaggio a Reims, among others. Before that, he had been a guest performer at the Lucerne Theatre in its new production of The Merry Widow, as well as in The Boatswain’s Mate and Prima la musica, poi le parole. In September 2016, he joined Wiener Volksoper’s ensemble on a scholarship offered by the Czerwenka Foundation. At Volksoper, he e.g. sang the parts of Dr Falke, Pappacoda, and the hunter in Rusalka. He is a member of Vienna State Opera‘s ensemble.
