Anna Smirnova
ANNA SMIRNOVA was born in Moscow and received her musical education at the the Tschaikowsky Conservatory in Moscow, before she took master classes with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Thomas Hampson in Zurich. Engagements led her to the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Eboli (Don Carlo), as Amneris (Aida) to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, as Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Abigaille (Nabucco), Ortrud (Lohengrin) and Eboli to the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as Eboli and Amneris to the bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, as Amneris to the Lyric Opera Chicago and to the Savonlinna Festival, as Preziosilla (La forza del destino) to Barcelona, ass Azucena to Verona, as Odeabella (Attila) to Bilbao, as Principessa di Buillon (Adriana Lecouvreur) to Berlin, as Azucena (Trovatore) to the Mariinskij-Theater in St. Petersburg. Furthermore, Anna Smirnova´s repertoire includes roles such as Giulietta (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Elisabetta (Maria Stuarda), Olga (Eugen Onegin), Giovanna Seymour (Anna Bolena), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana). She made her debut at the Wiener Staatsoper in 2011 as Amneris and also sang Abigaille here.
