Anne Schwanewilms

German soprano ANNE SCHWANEWILMS is recognised as one of the leading interpreters of the works of Strauss and Wagner of our time. She has worked with renowned conductors and orchestras throughout her operatic and symphonic career, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, London Symphony Orchestra, Orchéstre national de France. She is considered one of today’s finest lieder recitalists and has shared the stage with outstanding pianists, performing with them in Barcelona, Strasbourg, Madrid, Amsterdam, London (Wigmore Hall) and Washington (Kennedy Center). Three solo CDs – with WDR Sinfonieorchester, the Gürzenich Orchester and with pianist Charles Spencer (Das himmlische Leben) – were released in 2012. As early as 2002, Anne Schwanewilms had been named Opernwelt’s Singer of the Year for her exceptional performances on stage. Most recently, she sang at Bayreuth Festival, and at Bayerische and Berliner Staatsoper. At Vienna State Opera, she has sung Marie (Wozzeck), Elisabeth, Chrysothemis, Marschallin and Arabella, among others.
