Christoph Koncz
The Austrian conductor Christoph Koncz regularly leads orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Staatskapelle Dresden, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also conducted at Zurich Opera House, the National Theatre in Prague, Teatro Real Madrid, and the Vienna State Opera.
Following his conducting debut at the Mozart Week Salzburg in 2013, he has appeared at the Philharmonies of Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, and Munich, at Vienna’s Musikverein and Konzerthaus, the KKL Lucerne, and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as at the Salzburg Festival.
Current engagements include his debut with the Cleveland Orchestra at the Severance Music Center, returns to the Philharmonia Orchestra London, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, as well as a new production of Hänsel und Gretel at the Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg.
He initially served as principal second violinist of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra / Vienna Philharmonic and enjoyed success as a soloist before turning to conducting. Today, he is Music Director of the Orchestre de Mulhouse, Chief Conductor of the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss am Rhein, Principal Guest Conductor of Les Musiciens du Louvre, and designated Chief Conductor of the Bruckner Orchester Linz as well as Music Director of the Landestheater Linz.
Christoph Koncz is a leading interpreter of the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. His recording of the complete violin concertos as both soloist and conductor with Les Musiciens du Louvre was released by Sony Classical in 2020 under the title Mozart’s Violin and attracted international attention as the first recording of these celebrated works on the composer’s original Baroque violin.
