David Lagos
Cantaor David Lagos, born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1973, is one of the most creative minds on the current flamenco music scene. When he won the Lámpara Minera of the Festival del Cante de las Minas de La Unión in Murcia in 2014 – and has since not only held the title of Cantaor para Baile but has also been honoured with four other awards in the genres of Alegrías, Seguiriyas, Malagueñas and Cartageneras – he already had a professional career of more than 20 years behind him. At the Festival de Jerez he was awarded the prize for best singer in 2007 and 2014, and for his first album »El espejo en que me miro« he received the Premio Flamenco Hoy Disco Revelación. Having already been awarded at the IX Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, more Giraldillos followed at the XXI edition of the renowned festival in 2020 for the piece »¡Fandango!«, which he created together with David Coria, and which also received the XXII Premio de la Crítica of the Festival de Jerez in 2021. In February 2022, David Lagos was awarded the Premio Andaluz del Flamenco for his œuvre, with which he is not only an outstanding partner to many artists but has also shown flamenco music new ways in recent years. David Lagos works closely with Israel Galván and David Coria and was a partner of artists such as Mercedes Ruiz, Isabel Bayón, Eva La Yerbabuena, Pilar Távora, Rafael de Carmen, Manuela Carrasco, Andrés Marín, Rafael Campayo and El Torombo, Cristina Hoyos, Luisillo and Adrián Galia.
