ERIKA SUNNEGARDH was educated at the Israel Vocal Arts Institute, the Tanglewood Music Center, at the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies, at the Queens College´s Aaron Copland School of Music as well as at The International Institute of Vocal Arts. Since her debut at the Malmö Opera in the role of Turandot in the year 2004, which was critically acclaimed, she is considered one of today´s most exciting soprano voices. She achieved her greatest successes with Strauss, Beethoven and Puccini: as Chrysothemis at the Grand Teâtre Genève, Salome at houses such as the Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro Communale di Bologna, Welsh National Opera, Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona, Leonore at the Oper Frankfurt, the Metropolitan Opera and the Florentine Opera, Tosca at the Oper Frankfurt, the Nashville Opera and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Turandot at the Metropolitan Opera and at the Bregenzer Festspiele. Further important roles are Senta, Lady Macbeth, Kaiserin, Euryanthe. She made her debut at the Wiener Staatsoper as Lady Macbeth in 2009.
