Lukas Schmidt

The German tenor Lukas Schmidt has been a member of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera since the 2025/26 season. His current roles there include Pedrillo, the First Armoured Man (The Magic Flute), and Vítek (The Makropulos Affair).

Previous performances at the Vienna State Opera have included, in addition to the new productions of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Tannhäuser, Pedrillo, the First Jew (Salome), Eumete (Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria), among others.

Past engagements have taken him to Oper Frankfurt and the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden. In the current season, he will also appear at Staatstheater Nürnberg. He is likewise active as a concert performer.

Lukas Schmidt studied in the class of Professor Thomas Heyer at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. From 2022 to 2024, he was a member of the Opera Studio of the Vienna State Opera.

He is a recipient of the Culture Prize of the Main-Kinzig District and was nominated for the Austrian Music Theatre Award in 2024.
