Sebastian Kohlhepp

The German tenor Sebastian Kohlhepp is among the most accomplished and versatile singers of his generation. Praised for his “irresistible, shimmering voice” (Opera Magazine, UK) and “immense vocal palette” (Opernwelt), he is a sought-after guest on international stages.

He recently celebrated major successes with his role debut as Flamand in Capriccio at the Salzburg Festival and the 2024 Edinburgh Festival. He has appeared in concert with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Kirill Petrenko in Baden-Baden, performed with the SWR Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado), and sang Beethoven’s Missa solemnis at La Scala in Milan.

In the 2025/26 season, he will make both his role and house debut as Loge in Das Rheingold at the Staatsoper Berlin under Christian Thielemann. He will also return to the Opernhaus Zürich as the Cavalier in Cardillac (conducted by Fabio Luisi).

Born in Limburg an der Lahn, he received his first musical training as a member of the local boys’ choir. After studying in Frankfurt am Main, he held ensemble positions in Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, and at the Vienna State Opera. Since 2017, he has pursued a successful freelance career.
