Sophie Elisabeth Schippani

Sophie Elisabeth Schippani was born in Wels, Upper Austria, and began dancing ballet at the age of three. She took part in numerous ballet competitions and received the ‘Outstanding Performance’ award at the Vienna Arts Festival, as well as several other awards.
From November 2019 to June 2024, she studied at the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera. Her most important teachers include Martin Schläpfer, Alena Weber, Karen Henry, Andrea Némethová, Vladimir Shishov, Diliana Nikiforova and Callum Hastie. Furthermore, she took private lessons with Prof. Evelyn Téri-Musil and Chantal Lefèvre, among others. She also trained with the Slovakian National Ballet in 2023/24. She took part in several matinees of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera, including La Sylphide (Auguste Bournonville), La Bayadère (after Marius Petipa) and danced a duet in JIT (Kinsun Chan).
Sophie Elisabeth Schippani has been a member of the Youth Company of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera since the 2024/25 season and danced, among others, the bird in Martin Schläpferʼs world premiere of Peter and the Wolf at the NEST and performed´in the operetta Die Fledermaus at the Vienna State Opera and at the opening of the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Spielberg 2025, choreographed by Eno Peci. She also performed with the Vienna State Ballet in Rudolf Nureyevʼs Swan Lake, Pierre Lacotteʼs Coppélia and Elena Tchernichovaʼs Giselle.
