William Katz
William Katz is an architect with his own studios in New York and New Mexico. Artists such as Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Anselm Kiefer, Francesco Clemente, Robert Indiana, Kiki Smith and Miquel Barcelo commissioned him to design exhibitions, studios and living spaces. His most recent projects include the Fisher Landau Center in Long Island City (New York), which was built in cooperation with the architect Max Gordon, the exhibition spaces for contemporary art at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples and other art galleries in Chelsea (New York). Parallel to his work as an architect, he designed stage and costume designs for ballet and dance worldwide, including companies such as the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, Australian Ballet, Ballet de l’Opéra de Lyon or the Nederlands Dans Theater with Bill T. Jones, Arnie Zane, Louis Falco, Jennifer Muller, Elsa Monte and Jiří Kylián as choreographic partners.
