Zoryana Kushpler

The multiple award-winning mezzo-soprano Zoryana Kushpler was born in Lviv, Ukraine, where she studied piano and voice. During her studies, she made successful appearances at the Lviv Opera House as Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Maddalena (Rigoletto).

From 2004 to 2006 she was a member of the ensemble at the Bern City Theatre, and from 2007 to 2020 she belonged to the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera, where she enjoyed great success in roles such as Ulrica, Preziosilla, Fenena, Maddalena, Smeton, Suzuki, Polina, Olga, Sonjetka (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Giulietta, Prince Orlofsky, Adelaide, Mary, and Magdalena (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg).

Since 2008, she has been a regular guest at the Volksoper Wien. Further engagements have taken her to the Estates Theatre in Prague, Cologne Opera, Graz Opera, London’s Royal Albert Hall and Barbican Hall, the Bonn City Theatre, and to Japan.

She made her United States debut in 2012 in Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 with the Cleveland Orchestra. Zoryana Kushpler regularly gives masterclasses across Europe and has been a Professor of Voice at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2023.
